Hearts On Venezuela is an initiative aimed at raising and maintaining awareness on the Venezuelan human rights, democracy, and complex humanitarian emergency situations internationally through the translation of content produced by civil society organizations into English.
Context
The Venezuelan human rights movement and a diversity of civil society organizations (CSOs) are producing a vast repertoire of reports, statements, calls to action, articles, and other content with the objective of promoting human rights, democratization, and humanitarian assistance in the country.
Nonetheless, this information does not reach a broader international audience given that it is cannot be found in a centralized manner in other languages. This lack of information creates an important limitation in the actions of solidarity towards the Venezuelan people which can come from institutions (governments, international NGOs, foundations) or individuals.
Given the rapid deterioration of the Venezuelan socio-economic situation, it is ever more necessary for Venezuelan CSOs to have more international leadership at an international level in order to contribute to democratic solutions, with respect for human rights for all Venezuelans, and quickly attending to the grave impacts of the complex humanitarian emergency.
Hearts On Venezuela seeks to expand the reach and influence of Venezuelan civil society internationally, making their work more accessible, especially that work which occurs collaboratively amongst organizations, in English.
We seek to provide information about Venezuela to media outlets, government and non-governmental institutions, and the general public in English, generating opportunities to create consciousness and actions of solidarity with the Venezuelan population.
