The organization Mujeres Unidas por la Salud (United women for health, MUSAS) resumed its work of support, accompaniment, and advocacy of women living with HIV, within the framework of the celebration of its 17th Anniversary and after a three years hiatus.

The announcement was made by Director-General Grisbel Escobar through an institutional video broadcast on the organization’s social media, where she highlighted that the involuntary absence responded to the situation in the country since 2018 and the effects of the humanitarian crisis that affected part of their plans.

Escobar specified that they return with a phone and online emotional support service under a specific schedule; a work of advocacy, information, and prevention through their accounts on social media; and a diagnosis of the reality of women with HIV during the last 5 years of the Complex Humanitarian Crisis.

In her message, the Director-General of MUSAS expressed to women living with HIV that “they will be doing every effort within their power to continue providing support, reducing stigma and discrimination, defending their rights, and advocating for compliance with current public policies and lobbying for the creation of new ones based on the specific needs” of each of them. “You are not alone! ”.

In July 2014, MUSAS received the Red Ribbon Award for its inspiring work in reducing the impact of the AIDS epidemic. The UNAIDS recognition is the most important award given to organizations working on the issue of HIV / AIDS for having an outstanding and innovative response to this epidemic. The award was presented during an extraordinary session of the XX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014) held in Melbourne, Australia.
