Barquisimeto and Maracaibo are listed as the cities where both landline and mobile internet fail the most, while access to the network is the lowest in Barinas households (40%). More than 50% of respondents said they had problems with the internet and phones daily.

At least five out of 10 Venezuelans said they experience outages in the internet service, reflected in the latest study of citizen perception by the Observatorio Venezolano de Servicios Públicos (Venezuelan Observatory of Public Services, OVSP), which also highlights that Barquisimeto, Barinas, and Maracaibo are the cities experiencing the most severe problems.

62.9% of the households surveyed do not have internet access, a figure higher than the published by the OVSP in October, which was 59.5%. San Cristóbal and Caracas are the cities with the highest percentage of households with the service (58.3% and 44.4%). However, the capital of the state of Táchira gave the lowest rating to the service (37.8 %).

Phone services and mobile internet did not perform much better. 53.4% of users claimed to have network access failures every day. 62.8% of the respondents in Maracaibo were affected by outages.

The quality of phone services was positively evaluated by 57.1% of Venezuelans, in contrast to 43.1% that gave a good rating to the mobile internet. Regarding the latest study, smartphone usage fell from 64% to 63.3%, with the highest rates in Maracaibo (72.6%) and San Cristóbal (71.6%).

Trash collection continues to improve in terms of citizen perception

The OVSP also evaluated the perception of people about the trash collection service. Along with mobile phones, it is the only well-perceived service. 62.2% of the citizens surveyed rated it from “regular to good” to “very good”, while only 7.6% indicated that the service was “very bad”.

27.8% of the total sample stated that the trash collection truck frequency was once per week; 18.1% said twice, and 12.2% who said they collect the trash every day.

According to the OVSP, trash collection service covers 65.5% of the households surveyed in Caracas, Maracaibo, Valencia, Punto Fijo, San Cristóbal, Barquisimeto, Barinas, Barcelona, Ciudad Bolívar and Porlamar.
