On December 15, officials from the Fourth Control Court raided the Caracas headquarters of Asociación Civil Convite, an organization that works to guarantee and enforce social rights. Its humanitarian work allows supporting hundreds of people with medicines and supplies. “Stop harassment and persecution,” the organization wrote on Twitter after the incident.

The Convite director-general, Luis Francisco Cabezas, and Patrizia Latini, member of the team, were transferred by the FAES to the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Police in La Quebradita, Caracas for interrogation. They were detained for two hours. The reason for the raid and the arrest is unknown.

The project director, Fancelia Ruiz, was prevented from entering Convite‘s offices and making an assessment of the equipment that the police officers took away.

“Our work has focused on attending and listening to the needs of the elder. We have supported and provided aid to this group of people in vulnerable conditions. Donating medicines is not a crime! ”The organization wrote on Twitter.
